Attacks in the USA Upon much of the violence in America, by far the most noted is September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Center was destroyed. Earlier in the 1993 a bomb went off in the parking garage in the World Trade Center. Osama Bin Laden was the prime suspect in both of these attacks. There is evidence that he was planning, not necessarily the attacks on the World Trade Center, but some sort of memorable sabotage to the American government. He was set on the idea that all Americans "[were] the biggest terrorists on earth...The only way for us to defend of these assaults is by using similar means. We do not differentiate between those dressed in military uniforms and civilians. They're all targets in this fatwa," (Bin Laden). He praises the work of Ramsey Yousefs, the man who arranged the World Trade Center bombing in 1993. "[He] became a well known Muslim personality and all Muslims know him. Unfortunately, I did not know him before the incident. America will see many young men that will follow Ramsey Yousefs" (Bin Laden). He warns America about the future terrorists.This interview was took place on June 10, 1998 and three years later the World Trade Center was destroyed.
Another attack which is less remembered is the massacre at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. Seung-Hui Cho, the perpetrator, murdered 32 people in the time span of approximately 2 hours before committing suicide. This massacre made people realize that violence is not only committed by terrorists. Cho was not a terrorist although he was mentally unstable. It was very unusual of this shooting mostly because it occurred at a well-known college and it is the "deadliest peacetime shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history, on or off a school campus" (wikipedia.com). It opened the eyes of Americans to take more caution and put up better security to prevent a shooting like this from ever happening again, especially within a school.
